On tap for anyone in and around Los Angeles: a wide array of festivities from elegant midnight champagne affairs to spirited ball drops to private get-togethers hosted at Shutters on the Beach or Casa del Mar.
The short version: consider yourself in luck.
The glamour of the Roaring Twenties comes alive each New Year’s Eve in the heart of LA. Enjoy jazz ensembles, theatrical burlesque, nationally touring DJs, and a premium open bar at Prohibition NYE in the Ticket Concourse at Union Station. The 1930s Art Deco building sets the scene for a magnificent evening where Roaring Twenties attire is encouraged and formal attire is required. Make sure to reserve a car for the evening with the concierges at Shutters and Casa (it is Los Angeles after all), and at midnight, look for the signature 60-foot ball drop.
Grand Park New Year’s Eve LA
Families in LA for the holidays should head to Grand Park to celebrate the new year. After a recent expansion, three blocks of festivities bordered by the Music Center and City Hall can now accommodate 50,000 holiday revelers. The celebration abounds with live music performances, DJs, and family friendly attractions. 22-story images are projected onto City Hall from the photo booths on site, and at midnight, the countdown appears on the building in 3D.
New Year’s Eve at Casa del Mar
For those who prefer to stay close to home and avoid the busy LA streets, Casa will be hosting a New Year’s Eve bash in Terrazza Lounge just steps from the Pacific. On stage, Soul Station will be performing favorite party hits with TJ Wilkins (a finalist from season six of The Voice and featured performer with The Jacksons) and special guest Lola Delon. Tickets are available in advance, including a limited number of VIP packages for those who would like to reserve a cabana, couch, or table for two at the front of the dance floor.
To complete the evening, make a dinner reservation at Catch before the party. There are two seatings and each includes entrance to the event.

Of course, you may prefer to host your own New Year’s Eve celebration – or holiday celebration for that matter. Shutters and Casa have space available for a few more seasonal gatherings in spectacular venues such as the Pacific Terrace, which overlooks the ocean and offers stunning views of Santa Monica Pier at night, and the gorgeous beachside 4,200-square-foot Colonnade Ballroom.
Our Holiday Menu can be prepared to suit your taste, with options for hors d’oeuvre presentations, stations, and three- and four-course plated dinners with entrées such as Pumpkin Risotto, Roast Turkey with Apple Walnut Stuffing, and Pan Roasted Skuna Bay Salmon.
And when you celebrate with us, our talented event team will take the reins, ensuring a flawless evening that you can enjoy with your guests. After all, a holiday in Santa Monica is all about relaxing, particularly when you have a craft cocktail in hand.
