Indulging comes easy when it is summer in Santa Monica, the sun is shining, and the Pacific Ocean shimmers from your seaside perch at Shutters on the Beach.

So while you are at it, here is one more thing to add to your summer “to-indulge” list: a brand new menu at your favorite beachside eatery, 1 Pico.

There is seared calamari as an appetizer, not to mention Kumamoto oysters, tuna tartar, and rainbow cauliflower soup. Ask Chef Lucariello and he would say you cannot miss the cold tagliolini with Argentine red shrimp tartar, lemon zest, shallots, and American caviar. “I have been making this dish for friends and family for many years,” he says. “It is so simple and unforgettable that I am asked to make it over and over again. It is served cold so it makes for a perfect summer pasta.”

As for the main course, in classic 1 Pico fashion you will have the choice of housemade pastas or large plates with freshly sourced meats and seafood. Think fresh corn ravioli, bucatini with Maine lobster, or Lucariello delicacies like roasted Arctic Char, dry-aged bone-in ribeye, New Zealand rack of lamb, and seared Maine diver scallops (among many others). Of course, everything comes with an exquisite selection of local produce highlighting the best of spring and summer harvests in Southern California.

“Keeping the menu fresh and featuring as much local seasonal produce as we can is always our goal,” adds Chef. “Spring and summer in California give us an opportunity to feature beautiful produce and fresh fish and meats in a simple way, letting the flavors of the food shine through.”

To try it for yourself, make a reservation in advance and join us for an indulgent summer night by the beach. Buon appetito!
