But perhaps best of all: the perfect, house-made cocktail to refresh you after a day in the sun.
At Shutters on the Beach, our specialty cocktail menu at 1 Pico was designed with light, cooling libations in mind – from the Guavana Daiquiri made with Funkin Guava to the Flaca Colada with coconut water and fresh-squeezed lime juice.
Mango, raspberries, cucumber, and other fresh fruits and vegetables are at the heart of the refreshing cocktails, along with citrus and fresh herbs from sage to mint to cilantro. The inspiration for the menu, as told by Jean-Christophe Levarrat, General Manager at 1 Pico, was a balance of freshness and flavor to contrast the more potent, heavy libations of other seasons.
His first recommendation for guests is usually the Mojito de las Flores, made with Cruzan mango rum, St. Germain, lime, club soda, and mint in a Collins glass. “The soda, lime, and mint cuts well with the potency of the mango rum,” he says, “while the St. Germain brings a touch of fresh sweetness.”
As for a personal favorite, The Clipper takes center stage for Jean-Christophe. Perfectly complementing the woody, tobacco flavor of the Maker’s Mark, hints of orange and a light, bitter flavor combine with lemon acidity for a fresh finish.
