Nothing says vacation like the luxury of a languid day at the pool. Shutters on the Beach offers just that with its recently restyled exclusive poolside experience. When Michael S. Smith, interior designer to celebrities and tastemakers alike, set out to cozy up Shutters he culled his vision from coastlines across America, marrying Cape Cod’s tradition in comfort with California’s undeniable charm. The latest addition: Smith’s hand-crafted cabanas — havens of wicker and cerulean blue for the shade seeker, a cool modern take on a classic layout.
Complete with ocean breezes and optimum relaxation it’s the perfect way to spend your getaway, or any special occasion. Need anything? There’s always staff on hand to aid you with what you might need — even if it’s just another glass of rosé.
Smith sourced his pieces from designers such as Lane Ventures and Munder Skiles, choosing synthetic versions of traditional outdoor materials to ensure the furniture’s longevity. As a native to California, Smith knew the allure of the Pacific Ocean well. His color palette of choice features varying degrees of cerulean blue — a hue much appreciated by the Impressionists for its romantic water-like depth. The curtains that enclose each cabana are from Michael S. Smith’s collaboration with Greek painter Konstantin Kakanias, whose resume spans from fine art to fabric creation for names like Yves Saint Laurent.
It’s truly an experience of indulgence fit for one on vacation, “The sun terrace and pool are terrific. And the location is perfect as the hotel is literally on the beach,” one visitor praised of their stay.
Whether you’re an avid swimmer, or looking for a quiet spot to lounge, you must slip into one of Shutters on the Beach’s new cabanas for the full treatment. Poolside cabanas are only available for guests, so once you have locked in your room, be sure to reserve a cabana as well, these will book up quickly.
