Santa Monica may be known for its beautiful beaches and exquisite restaurants but don’t think this beachside haven is merely a vacation destination. Behind the visible attractions are a collection of people and organizations that make this city by the beach a truly tightknit community.
One such organization is Chrysalis, a locally based nonprofit group that helps low-income residents gain employment and find a pathway to self-sufficiency. Working with over 30,000 local jobseekers every year, Chrysalis provides the resources, training, and connections to make a better life possible for anyone in this part of Southern California.
With the season of giving upon us, Shutters and the Beach and Casa del Mar are honored to support this great organization in its ongoing cause. This December, we have the pleasure of hosting and catering the annual Chrysalis holiday party: a year-end celebration with the organization’s many hard-working applicants. We will also host a holiday party for the organization’s employees—well-deserved after another successful year of community service.
Of course, holiday season is not the only celebratory time for Chrysalis. Throughout the year, the organization launches several campaigns across the Santa Monica area.
One example is the Women’s Empowerment Program, an 8-week initiative to support 35 disadvantaged women with mentors and resources. At the end of each program, Chrysalis holds a graduation ceremony at Shutters on the Beach where each woman reflects on her development, growth, and outcome. It’s a truly unique opportunity for individuals to celebrate in a venue that may otherwise not be accessible to them.
As Chrysalis embarks on another year of philanthropy, we encourage all of you to join us in giving thanks and support. This admirable organization is powered by the work of volunteers and giving your time to help those in need is a fantastic way to show your support and compassion.
From all of us at Shutters on the Beach and Casa del Mar, wishing you a happy, healthy, and grateful holiday season!
