What comes to your mind when you think – Bubbles? Lounging in the bath? Fine champagne, kids chasing almost invisible rainbow spheres down the beach? At Shutters on the Beach it means a new cocktail of the bubbling kind– the latest craze on the mixology scene.
Traditionally, bartenders add fizz at the end of the cocktail with ginger ale or soda water. Shutters will be infusing select drinks with carbonation directly into the cocktail once all the ingredients have been combined. The effects of this technique completely transforms the character of the cocktail by intensifying the flavors, making it more vivid and light, and enhancing the refreshing experience.
The Living Room at Shutters will change the carbonated cocktail to match the season. To keep you on track with your New Years Resolutions, on the menu currently is the ‘Skinny Mini.’ You can make it yourself (with the recipe below), but it won’t be half as much fun as sipping it on their Terrace at sunset.
“Skinny Mini”
4 leaves of fresh basil
½ tea spoon sugar in raw
1 oz. Plymouth gin
½ oz. Cointreau
½ oz. fresh line juice
2 oz. fresh pink grapefruit
After mixing and straining the ingredients into a bottle, the carbonation is infused to create a truly original drinking experience. Served in a chilled flute glass, this cocktail is the perfect complement to a sunny afternoon watching the waves.
