Art inspires art.
So while the sweeping coastline of Santa Monica may be the focal point of our seaside city, there is much to be found beyond the beach – namely, the abundance of California-inspired artwork throughout the community and within Shutters on the Beach and Casa del Mar.
Some of our favorite pieces highlight the nearby Pacific, while others are indicative of the iconic culture and lifestyle in Santa Monica. Best of all, many fascinating works of art have inspired others to come up with new creations.
(Like our bartenders at Shutters and Casa, who have crafted some truly memorable cocktail recipes after contemplating the coastal-themed work of John Baldessari and Christian Chaize.)
To fully immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant arts culture – while, of course, setting aside time to enjoy Santa Monica Beach – we recommend our Celebrate the Arts package. The offer includes overnight accommodations at Shutters or Casa, daily breakfast for two, and tickets to one of Santa Monica’s top cultural arts destinations such as Bergamot Station, Annenberg Beach House, the Museum of Flying, or the California Heritage Museum.
Plus, you could win a future stay on us, giving you even more time to explore the city.
At Shutters and Casa, take a walk through the public areas and restaurants to see a few of the hotels’ most distinguished pieces. John Baldessari’s “Paradise,” which inspired the Paradise Cove cocktail recipe below, can be found near the beachside entrance to Shutters next to Coast. And Christian Chaize’s “Praia Piquinia,” the spark behind the Caipirinha cocktail, is located at the north end of Terrazza at Casa.
Make sure to remain open to your own creativity, too. You never know when a cocktail recipe will come to mind.
