Mother’s Day Menu
Mom’s special evening begins with a tasty selection of farm-to-table produce and freshly caught seafood catches. Start with a delicious vegetable appetizer like potato spring garlic soup, spring vegetable quiche, or Kenter Canyon baby greens. Or why not get straight to the ocean delicacies with an heirloom tomato and crab salad or house cured gravlax?
The entrée menu is equally flavorful, ranging from vegetarian options like morel mushroom gnochetti to heftier selections like roasted jidori chicken or grilled filet of beef. Moms with a soft spot for seafood will again find flavors aplenty, from the exquisite pan seared salmon to the classic Dungeness crab cakes.
Topping it all off is a dessert selection to make any mouth water. Mom can’t go wrong with any indulgence here, be it the chocolate caramel mousse bar, the lemon blueberry shortcake, or the strawberry rhubarb crumble.
Chef Alberico Nunziata’s Torta Mimosa Recipe
A famous Italian dessert, the Mimosa Cake is often baked in celebration of Women’s Day or Mother’s Day. This version of the mimosa cake is prepared according to one of the traditional recipes, especially popular in North Italy. The name of the cake derives from the sponge cake crumbles’ resemblence to the mimosa flower. For this dessert you need to prepare two sponge cakes – one will be stuffed with whipped cream and will form the basis of the pie, while the other sponge is cut into small cubes that will be used to cover the cake and create the “mimosa” effect. Usually the mimosa cake takes the form of a soft dome, but recently it has become common to leave the cake in the classic cylinder shape.
