Laura McIver is no stranger to Santa Monica and Southern California. In fact, her recent arrival on the shores of Shutters on the Beach constitutes less of a “hello” and more of a “welcome home”.
Which is precisely why there’s no one better suited to take on the role as our new Hotel Manager.
More than a decade after joining Shutters as the Corporate Director of Food & Beverage—which turned into subsequent roles as Resident Manager at Hotel Casa del Mar and General Manager at then-ETC-owned Canary Hotel in Santa Barbara—Laura now comes full circle at Santa Monica’s most iconic beachfront hotel.
Along the way she has acquired top-level experience at many of the region’s finest luxury destinations, most recently as the Vice President and General Manager at Miraval Resort in Tucson, Arizona. Previously she has also been General Manager at Santa Barbara’s Belmond El Encanto and Catering Director at various San Francisco hotels from Claremont Resort to Kimpton Hotels, paving the way for what is now a 25-year career within luxury hospitality.
Her knack for management and five-star service has also led to several honors within the industry, including the Pacific Coast Business Times’ “40 Under 40” in 2010 and “Top 50 Women in Business” in 2014.
