Fresh farmer’s market ingredients and balmy beach days make spring one of our favorite seasons for a light, refreshing cocktail at Casa del Mar.
But with so many seasonal herbs and daily fresh produce to choose from (our Chef visits the Santa Monica Farmers Market every week), we could not possibly settle on just one.
Hence why we settled on seven.
Debuting at Terrazza this spring, the seasonal selection showcases lighter liquors such as gin and vodka in well-known and creative new handcrafted cocktails. “My favorite ingredients are the fresh mint and lavender,” says Director of Outlets, Jiaqi Tang. “You can literally smell spring in your drink before you even take a sip.”
From the Caipirinha (a traditional Brazilian spring and summer cocktail made with a liqueur from sugar cane) to the Aviation (amethyst gin), each cocktail has been designed specifically for the season of renewal.
Then, of course, there are the Casa Classics including Jiaqi’s personal favorite, The Perfect Pear. The fit-for-May cocktail features Grey Goose vodka, pear puree that adds a distinctive body, fresh lemon, thyme, and a garnish of fresh baby rosemary – the perfect way to cool down after your day at the beach.
But back to the seasonal cocktails.
Some are more suited for breezy evenings, while others are best for days that feel like summer. All should be consumed this spring in Santa Monica.
Without further delay, your cocktails:
Treuse: Casamigos Blanco, green chartreuse, lime juice, agave nectar
Aviation: amethyst gin, crème de violette, lemon juice, agave syrup, luxardo
Caipirinha: cuca cachaça, simple syrup, lime
Vesper: Grey Goose, St. George gin, lillet
Gold Rush: buffalo trace, honey syrup, lemon juice
Tequila Honeysuckle: Casamigos Blanco, honey syrup, lime juice, grapefruit juice, St-Germain
Honey & Smoke: mezcal, honey syrup, lime juice
